What's in the box?

This must be some kind of an intro to an high budget campaign. Presumably it’s a start for an Alternate Reality Game.

I didn’t had the chance to search for clues. whatsinthebox.nl isn’t very helpful and the blogosphere is clueless too. There is an episode of The Twilight Zone that is called What’s in the box, but I’m not really sure that the video and the episode are related.

Please report any clues you find in the comments. Thanks.

  1. Hey Igor,

first of all a nice video. Some things I noticed while watching it the first time:

    - The background music sounds like LOST

    - The sound effects (the suits radio voices, the rockets, the grenades, some sirens) are from half life

Moreover the whole setting looks like half life. When the protagonist sets up his “brain computer interface”, you can read in the lower ticker: Largest single collapse in history since black mesa”.

And if you check the weird source code of the web page, you can find this: http://www.whatsinthebox.nl/anti.gif

Oh, an this page appear if you look for “juri jossten”: http://www.campus.tv/?tag=juri-joosten – the half life impression seems to be right ;-)

  2. Ok, I couldn't have been more wrong.

A science student (Tim Smit) from Nijmegen ,with a more than healthy passion for making films and a budget as tight as 150 €, made it to this demo video.

So, apparently it’s not an ARG and it’s not a campaign for a cell phone. It’s just a guy who loves making movies. Fantastic.
